Christmas Is For Kids 2023:

Dear Christmas is for Kids Parent or Guardian,

We hope that this finds you well. We know that circumstances can be very difficult for all parents for a huge variety of reasons. We can understand juggling trying to work and take care of children or other family members while making sure that your family stays safe and healthy. We’re right there with you.

The Council for Children has been busy since last December, working closely with several other area nonprofits to help families with some extreme cases of need, and now we must turn our attention to planning the Christmas is for Kids season. This is what I want to talk to you about today.

For returning parents, please be aware that the program has moved. We are now on the 3rd floor of Emerald Square Mall on route 1 in North Attleboro, next to the space where Sears was.

First, applications and story sheets will be available October 1st.. We will also have copies outside our office at 4 Hodges Street, Attleboro.

Some additional information for you to be aware of:

·        Classes are required for all returning parents:  8 hours for parents in the first 4 years participating in the program and for parents who are applying for a 5th year or more, an additional 4 hours are required, specifically on personal finance.  We have again partnered with other non-profits and given you lots of options to take classes safely. Please see the tab on this website for the available listing of classes we ar holding this fall as well as information on organizations we have partnered with who will create a roster to give you credit if you go to one of their programs.

·        When you fill out the story sheet, please do not include a lot of specific items. Our ability to shop is limited. We are planning on 800-1000 children this year, and we are also assuming donors will be limited in their ability to secure items that are in sort supply or in high demand. We will prioritize warm clothes and do our best to match as closely as possible for toys, but please remember that we will substitute when we need to. We may be doing more gift cards than usual for the teens, who love to shop for themselves anyway.

·        When you return the application, it is extremely important that you put all of your required information with the application and story sheet in a SEALED envelope in the mailbox near our door. Work is being done in the building and in our little office and we want to keep your information secure.

Our plan is to reach out to parents as soon as your application is approved to let you know that we are working on your children's gifts. We will have a 1-day distribution as in prior years.

Volunteers are already working to get things ready for your children.  Please let us know if you have questions.
