Volunteer With Us
We are always looking for passionate and dedicated individuals who want to support our mission to provide year-round programs and educational support to enrich the lives of children in need. There are a number of ways to get involved with our organization, with a range of commitment levels:
Afterschool Mentor
Lead hands-on activities like painting, music, theater, and writing in our Nicky O Afterschool program while giving students the space to explore their creative talents. The commitment is a 90-minute class that meets two times each week for 6 weeks. We’re leaning into the power of community—partnering with local volunteers, parents, artists, and mentors who are passionate about making an impact to serve as instructors. Training is provided. We’d love to hear from you!
Christmas is For Kids
During the first two weeks of December, volunteers work tirelessly behind the scenes to organize and distribute holiday packages to local families. There are typically two 3-hour shifts each day and Saturdays as we get close to Christmas. Volunteers are free to work as many shifts as they like. Training is provided in mid-November.
Events Committee
Help with event planning, outreach, logistics and day-of-event support. Typically requires at least a monthly, hour-long commitment. Our Events Committee will support existing events while helping us identify new opportunities to enhance visibility and raise awareness of our mission. Our main goal is to create revenue-generating events to support the growth plans of the organization. Your participation with this committee is a great way to become involved on a seasonal basis and help raise critical funds for our programs!
Education Committee
Join our new education committee for Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children as we continue to grow our and identify community needs. The vision is to foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that inspires curiosity, nurtures creativity, and supports lifelong learning through creative expression.
Commitment- One 90-minute meeting (video or in person) per quarter. Occasional correspondence through email. During these meetings, we'll go through an approved agenda. A few topics for discussion are below. We expect the committee to also have ideas!
Curriculum Support: Identify educational practices that are engaging, relevant, and forward-thinking. Encourage the use of technology, creative methods, and continuous adaptation to meet the evolving needs of students.
Community Collaboration: Help building strong partnerships with schools, educators, volunteers, families, and local organizations. Create a community-driven network that provides support, resources, and mentorship.
Continuous Improvement: Uphold a commitment to constant reflection and evaluation to ensure that our programs and initiatives meet the highest standards of quality and impact. Seek feedback and use data to refine our strategies and programs.
Supporting Educators: Identifying resources, training, and professional development.
Savers Drives
Help us raise funds by donating your gently used clothing, shoes, bedding/linens and accessories. We have several collection dates available for drop off and always need volunteers to help with loading the truck. This is a great way to become involved a few times each year.
