Questions to Think About
When unemployment threatens to spoil the Christmas holidays, who will ensure there are gifts under the tree? When a child is looking forward to a small birthday party that her parents cannot begin to afford, who will send the ingredients needed for a happy birthday? When a child has witnessed a traumatic event, what will bring him comfort?

The answers all begin with our community:  YOU!  Our donors send thousands of gifts to our community’s children each year as a part of Christmas is for KidsTM. Local organizations make special days come true through Happy Birthday Backpacks and children hug new teddy bears through Bears on Board.

Our Misson Statement
The Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing year-round programs and educational support to enrich the lives of children in need.

Our History
Born in 1972 and funded by the newly created state Office for Children, the Attleboro Area Council for Children has made its mission to fill  children's needs in our community. When state funds dried up in 1991, the Council decided to "go it alone" and incorporate as a non-profit and run  all its programs with volunteers.

Who We Are
We are a volunteer run, non-profit organization that raises our own funds to provide programs and services to children and families residing in Attleboro, North Attleboro, Mansfield, Norton, Seekonk and Rehoboth. We continue to add concerns as they come to our attention. Any member of the community can bring issues that concern children before its Board of Directors at the monthly meetings. Download our newsletter here for more information about us and our current activities.

Would You Like to Join Us?
The Attleboro Area Council for Children serves as volunteer advocates for children. Where there is a need for service we attempt to find one. Volunteers are always needed to make the work lighter. Sometimes, community members come to the Council because they have discovered that there is a serious gap in a service for children and families. The Council helps concerned groups find a way to make a difference in a child’s life. If you live or work in the Attleboro, North Attleboro, Mansfield, Norton, Rehoboth, or Seekonk - you can join us! We encourage families and children to volunteer together on some of our special projects. Clubs and organizations looking for projects that benefit children should contact us to see how they can help us! If you would like more information, please come to one of our monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m., September through June (except December when our meeting is action oriented due to our Christmas is for KidsTM program) just to find out what group or issue you would like to work on! I can be reached via our e-mail address: Kelly@councilforchildren.org.

We’ll look forward to meeting you!

In the best interest of children,

Kelly Fox,
President
